What we build, you own: Nualt's new brand platform

Nualt is becoming a product engineering studio. Alongside its website redesign, the studio is setting out a new brand platform, built around a conviction it has held from the start and now puts at the centre of everything, that what you have built should belong to you. It is also the first time Nualt speaks English.

Your tools should belong to you

Most companies now rent the tools that run their business. They pay their e-commerce platform a commission on every sale, pay per-user subscriptions for their software, and often leave the code, the access and the hosting of their website with the agency that built it. As long as everything works, nobody asks the question. It comes up the day prices rise, the provider disappears, or the company wants to change a tool it does not control.

We believe a company should own what it has built, understand it and be able to change it without asking anyone's permission. That is Nualt's purpose, and we have written it down because it changes the economics of a project. A tool the company owns becomes an asset it can grow, value or hand over to someone else, whereas a subscription remains a cost whose price and terms are set by someone else. One of the shops we delivered belongs entirely to its founders and costs two thirds less than an equivalent Shopify store.

This conviction was already there in the first version of Nualt, whose website told clients that "the shop is yours", but as one argument among five. It is now the starting point of everything we do, and the first line of our website, "What we build, you own."

Nualt becomes a product engineering studio

Nualt started out as a creative web studio that promised "websites with class". Looking back, the line said more about us than about what our clients came for. The projects of the past months have changed the scale of the studio. We have built shops on Medusa, published an authentication plugin that other developers have adopted for their own stores, and deployed AI systems that work on a company's data, such as a shared memory for AI agents. We no longer design websites alone, we design products, with their architecture, their running costs and their business model.

Nualt is therefore now a product engineering studio, built on open source and paid for what it delivers, never for the dependency it creates. Our four offers follow from this, e-commerce, SaaS, agentic AI and design, with the same standards across all four. Every product is designed with its market, because a technical decision also commits to an audience, a budget and a way of making money.

It is also the first time Nualt speaks English. The website and this blog are now available in both languages, for projects led outside France.

Ten commitments, and no subscriptions

A conviction only counts if it can be checked. We have therefore made ten commitments, published on the studio page, which apply to every project.

The code is handed over in your name. The repository, the access and the hosting accounts are transferred to you on delivery. We sell no subscriptions, and future changes become a new project, with us or without us. You remain free to leave at any time, because every project runs on open, widely used technologies that another provider can take over without rebuilding everything.

We also bring you an opinion. Custom development is kept for the needs that justify it, and if an existing tool is enough, the scoping phase will tell you so. The architecture is decided with you to keep running costs under control, and each AI model is chosen according to its use, the sensitivity of your data and its cost. Finally, every project ends with training, so that you understand what you own and can develop it further.

A new identity inspired by early computers

Our new identity tells the same story. It draws on the computing of the 1970s and 80s, when machines came with their documentation and could be opened up to understand how they worked. It is built on a blue close to IBM's and an ivory, and it draws what we build, technical blocks in isometric view, architecture diagrams and real configuration files. The pixels from our early days are still there, as checkerboards and textures.

Our writing has followed the same path. It tries to say clearly what often stays vague in a project, what you own, what something costs or what a piece of jargon actually means.

At Nualt

This platform now guides everything we write, design and deliver. The case studies for L'Essence d'Être and Maison Kameur show what it looks like on real projects. If you want a tool that belongs to you, let's talk about your project.

Nualt's new brand platform, your questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often on this topic.

What is a product engineering studio?

It is a studio that designs and builds digital products, such as online shops, SaaS products or AI systems, taking the market and the business model into account as much as the technology. At Nualt, scoping is part of the work, before the first line of code.

Does the client really own the code?

Yes. The repository, the documentation, the access and the hosting accounts are transferred to the client on delivery. The client can then develop the product further with Nualt, with another provider or in-house.

Does Nualt offer a maintenance contract?

No. Nualt sells no subscriptions. Changes to a product become a new project, which the client can give to the studio or to someone else.

Does Nualt still build brochure websites?

Yes. The Design offer covers brochure websites and product interfaces, designed directly in code.

Does Nualt work with clients outside France?

Yes. The studio works remotely as well as in person, and its website and blog are now available in English.
